Does reflexology diagnose and how is a foot chart used?

NO. Reflexology identifies where stress and tension is located in the body and works to relieve them. If a patient has informed the practitioner of other symptoms that coincide with the stress and tension identified by reflexology then they will be advised to visit their doctor. Reflexology is complimentary not an alternative to doctor's advice. A foot chart is used in order to determine where sensitive areas are and provide a map of the human body.

How painful is Reflexology?

During treatment certain areas where stress and tension are located may be sensitive but the sensitivity quickly reduces. Reflexology patients report a feeling of deep relaxation, most falling asleep during treatment regardless of the sensitivity.

How frequently should I have Reflexology treatment?

It is totally safe to have a daily Reflexology session, however not always practical! Often patients have a weekly treatment to help to relieve particular conditions and once it is decided that their body is balanced and responding well, they might move to fortnightly then monthly maintenance treatments or purely for the calming and relaxing benefits. Reflexology works at its optimum with regular treatments however some patients enjoy Reflexology on an ad-hoc basis as a treat.

Why are feet so vital?

They are one of the most neglected parts of the body and yet they are vital. So often feet are squashed into footwear and forgotten until you visit a Reflexology practitioner. Then it is often with great embarrassment you display your feet. They help to support your body weight and provide mobility - without your feet you would fall over. It has been said that in a lifetime you would walk 70,000 miles which is the equivalent of walking to the moon and back. So you can see why your feet need pampering, one of the best ways of giving your feet extra care and attention is with Reflexology. By receiving treatment on your feet you are actually helping your entire body. This is due to the fact that minute points in your feet form a map of your body mirroring every organ, function and structure which is illustrated by the use of a foot chart.

Can Indian Head Massage be conducted over clothing?

Absolutely. This means that it gives immense flexibility as to where Indian Head Massage treatments can be conducted including in a corporate setting.

Indian head massage can safely be used for most conditions however we would not treat in the event of the following recent head or neck injuries, recent operations, drug or alcohol intoxication, unstable diabetes, unstable high or low blood pressure and a dysfunction of the nervous system ie meningitis. The following conditions can be treated but do discuss with your practitioner prior to the session as caution may need to be exercised; conditions where there is a dysfunction of the nervous system ie loss of skin sensation, fainting or dizzy spells, spastic conditions, history of thrombosis or embolism, epilepsy and in the event of a migraine attack at the time of treatment.

Is there any special equipment needed to conduct an Indian Head Massage treatment?

No as in order to conduct this treatment all that is needed is a chair for the patient to sit on and oil if this is used.

How does energy massage work?

This works by accessing the subtle energies of the body and the practitioner seeks to balance out these energies which are believed to be responsible for dis-ease in the body, mind and spirit.

How long does an energy massage treatment take?

An energy massage usually takes an hour but can take longer or shorter depending on the length of time it takes to balance out the energies.

Can you combine energy massage with reflexology or indian head massage?

Yes you can combine energy massage with reflexology or indian head massage and it can help to optimise results.

What are chakras?

Chakras are spinning wheels of energy situated throughout the body and relate to different colours and areas within the mind, body and spirit.

How do you use colour within the energy massage treatment?

The appropriate colour is selected by combined use of a colour questionnaire and using the person's instinct to determine which colours are most suited to that person at this particular time. The appropriate coloured silk is then placed on the relevant area or in view of the person receiving the massage and the colour is often suggested for further use at home. This does work at a very subtle level and can take a little while to notice a beneficial effect.
