So what are tapping modalities?
The first tapping modality was discovered by Dr Roger Callahan a licensed physchologist in 1979.
He had been working with his client Mary for 2 years to help her water phobia which was so extreme she could not pursue eve the most basic activities if they involved water.
Using all the traditional methods he was seeing no improvement. He became very frustrated and remembered that the Chinese had used acupuncture for over 5,000 years and asked Mary to tap a few times under her eye – the location of the end point for the stomach meridian.
After several seconds of tapping, Mary exclaimed “it’s gone!” and made a beeline for the pool bending down to splash water on her face.
Dr Callahan then went onto prove the underlying reasons as to why this therapy had worked and used this amazing technique with other clients and developed different algorithms (sequences) to help all kinds of disorders and conditions. Not only getting relief from mental and emotional disturbances but helping their physical bodies too.
In 2016 TFT was rated as an evidence based practice by the US Department of Health.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) - this tapping modiality was developed by Gary Craig in the 1990s based on his study of the work done by Roger Callahan. As Craig realised the potential of this approach he worked to simplify and refine the techniques while maintaining positive, measurable results. EFT has been researched in more than 20 different peer reviewed journals.
Emotional Freedom Technique Energy – this is a slightly modified version of EFT developed by Sylvia Hartman - a student of Gary Craig in 2002 which focuses on the experience of emotions and highlights a more positive statement.
Lisa’s journey into Tapping Modalities
Lisa from Calm Reflex has for quite a while been utlising affirmations in her work on herself and often with clients. She noticed that a lot of presenting issues often had many layers (akin to layers of an onion) and would use affirmations to start to unpeel some of these layers. However since using the tapping modalities she has seen a quantum leap in terms of how quickly these layers are able to be peeled back leading to improved health and wellbeing.
So what are the practicalities?
By use of video-link the client is asked to relax and then we will talk about the presenting issue and using intuition delve down further. We will then decide on the appropriate tapping modality to use.
A statement (in the case of EFT) or statements in the case of EFT Energy is then written.
This is then used throughout the tapping procedure to work through the issue.
The sessions will take just half an hour and cost £25. Depending on the presenting issue and how deep the layers go depends on how many sessions will be required. A very simple challenge can often be cleared in one session but more complex challenges will often require follow up sessions.
